100 YEAR OLD CHURCH FALLS AT THE HANDS OF THE WINTER STORM

In the early afternoon hours units with the 2nd BFC were alerted for a report of a structural collapse at 4322 Sheriff Road NE. Engine 27 arrived to find a church that had collapsed and a strong smell of gas in the area. Truck Company 17 was utilized to secure the area and attempt to locate the street gas shut off in the several feet of snow. The collapse team was called in as well as the search and rescue K-9 fresh off his return from Haiti. All searches proved negative however Engine 27 and Truck 17 stood bye for several hours while Washington Gas attempted to shut off the gas supply to the building.
